Jim Thomas, Journal Broadcasting’s VP of marketing and programming, announced he’s leaving Journal to accept a position at Frank N. Magid Associates, the research consulting firm where he’ll be VP of marketing.
I caught up with Thomas this morning to talk about his reasons for the move.
Thomas said the chance to work for a “world-class organization like Magid” is what drew him to the job.
“I had to pinch myself”, he said when he was considering the possibility of working at Magid.
Thomas said his duties at Magid will be split between local TV news marketing and helping stations grow revenue.
“News marketing is my core, so I’m glad to continue doing that, but in my new position, I’ll also get the chance to work with some bigger brands as well,” Thomas said.
Thomas starts April 21 and will be based at the Magid office in Minneapolis.
