Ezra Winters is the newest member of the marketing team at WBRZ, the ABC affiliate in Baton Rouge. And when I say new, I mean yesterday was his first day. I caught up with Ezra late yesterday afternoon to see how his first day was going.
“Everyone’s been nice to me,” said Winters. I joked, “That won’t last.”
Noah Kozinski, WBRZ’s Director of Marketing, says the station is happy to have Winters as their new writer/producer. Kozinski says WBRZ’s production department will help Winters with his shooting and editing.
Winters is a recent LSU grad who majored in English. He had applied for a sales job at the station, but management thought he might have a better skill set for creative services. Winters has a background in film work.
Winters told me that while he was thinking of “the possibilities of post-graduate life, being a writer/producer at a local TV station wasn’t in his plans.” But once it became a possibility, he saw an opportunity and jumped on it.
When Winters asked me what expectations he should set for himself, I told him he should try and put something on the air within two weeks.
Ezra, keep us posted on your progress and send up your first spot. Plus, let us know if everyone’s still being nice to you.
Got an opening you want filled in creative services? Or maybe you’ve recently hired someone?
Let me know about it.
