It seems like yesterday when two bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing four people and injuring hundreds. A new phrase emerged to describe the kind of strength the city exhibited responding to the tragedy, Boston Strong.
One year later, on Tuesday, April 15, WCVB, Boston’s ABC affiliate, will televise the commemorative events surrounding the anniversary in day-long, special coverage called, Boston Strong: One Year Later.
The special will focus on the survivors, the heroes, and the four people killed in the tragic events that unfolded on April 15, 2013. Included are in-depth profiles of survivors as they cope with injuries and share both their triumphs and struggles. Live coverage will be included of the tribute being organized by the City of Boston and the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) that honors the victims, survivors, and heroes.
Here’s a profile of Heather Abbott who lost her leg when the bombs exploded at the finish line.
NOTE—People often ask me where these story ideas come from and I answer, anywhere and everywhere. In this case, I saw this promo when WCVB’s creative services director Russ Nelligan posted it on Facebook. Several story ideas have emerged from postings on Facebook. I write about what I know, but that doesn’t mean we have to be Facebook friends.
You can e-mail me, call me or tweet me. I’m not hard to find.
