Thanks to Scott Gee, the creative services director at KOBI, the NBC affiliate in Medford, Ore. for sending along today’s May sweeps spots.
Here’s what Scott said about the first spot.
“Two Southern Oregon Native American tribes are in dispute over the creation of a casino in the city of Medford, Ore. One tribe is attempting to stop the project proposed by the other. NBC5 News promoted the obvious hook of the story: the letters sent back and forth between the tribes, separating the public rhetoric and the private correspondence.
“Although other stations in the market also had copies of the letters, we took ownership of the story and created urgency by promising a more in-depth investigation into the documents. NBC5 News became the source for information regarding the casino controversy.”

And I forgot to include one promo of my own yesterday, sorry. Here’s one from WINK Fort Myers, Fla.
Don’t forget to send me your May sweeps spots. Here’s what I need—a YouTube or Vimeo link to any examples you want to share, along with a short explanation about it if you want.
I’ll share one of mine everyday as well. Look for more examples every afternoon.
For competitive reasons, it might be best to submit only those promos that are already on your air. Make sure you get the permission of station management.
My email and phone number are at the top of the column.
