WBAL, the Hearst-owned NBC affiliate in Baltimore, today named John Baldwin its new creative services director. Baldwin moves over from the Hearst-NBC in Lancaster, Pa., where he held the same position. Baldwin worked at WGAL for 28 years.
“I feel my career up until this point has uniquely prepared me for this next challenge,” Baldwin said. “I’m eager for the opportunity to take on a new set of responsibilities at such a dynamic station within the Hearst Television family.”
During Baldwin’s tenure at WGAL, he was instrumental in positioning the station as one of the leading NBC affiliates in the country. Continuing its consecutive string of first place finishes dating back well over a decade, WGAL garnered the largest share of household audience in key news time periods in the top 50 markets in February.
The new creative services director at WGAL is Elizabeth Montijo, who’s been the station’s assistant promotion manager for 10 years.
“I’m excited to be able to maintain the legacy that WGAL has established here in Central Pennsylvania,” said Montijo. “This has always been a goal for me.”
In making the announcement at WGAL, the station’s President and General Manager John Humphries said: “Liz has been a key member of the WGAL team and she’ll do an outstanding job overseeing our creative services and promotion efforts. She’s worked in some of the largest TV markets and brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Importantly, she’s a Pennsylvanian; a graduate from Temple University. She has a keen understanding of our community and our state.”
