Boston news viewers wondering whatever happened to Susan Wornick and Bob Lobel, two of that city’s most well-known local TV personalities, can find them reunited and back on the dial as the faces of Me-TV, Boston.
Wornick, who recently stepped down as news anchor from WCVB, the ABC affiliate in Boston, pairs up with Lobel, her former husband and longtime sports personality at WBZ, Boston’s CBS affiliate, in largely improvised comedy bits that appear between Me-TV’s classic sitcoms and dramas to help promote the channel.
“The idea came together when I saw them both interacting from the stage at a charity event last year,” says WCVB General Manager Bill Fine. Me-TV airs on a WCVB subchannel.
“Witnessing the chemistry, humor and just general familiarity with each other was a natural. Couple that with the fact that Me-TV reaches a target audience that grew up (and loved) the two of them on local TV made it a great fit. I asked them what they thought, and both of them enthusiastically jumped at the chance.”
“I am so excited to be working with Bobby again. He is smart and funny, and he laughs at most of my jokes,” Wornick says.
“People are asking me all the time now, Who’s the girl with the dog?” quips Lobel, referring to the frequent cameo appearances made by Susan’s dog Sammy.
“Susan and Bob are a great fit to help promote Me-TV,” adds Fine. “They are familiar faces, especially to the baby boomer generation who grew up watching the pair and are the target audience of the classic TV sitcoms, dramas, westerns and sci-fi programs in the Me-TV Network library.”
