KTVT and KTXA, the CBS affiliate and independent station in Dallas, raised more than $240,000 Tuesday for the local nonprofit, Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer (WOKC).
The stations televised a 13-hour fundraiser from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. airing special segments sharing some of the stories of how children and their families are battling cancer.

“The generosity of North Texans never fails,” said Gary Schneider, KTVT and KTXA’s general manager.
“We’re grateful to our viewers and the companies and organizations who donated to this very worthwhile cause. I think we all share the hope that we can one day wipe out kids’ cancer for good.”

Viewers donated by telephone, online at CBS11Cares.com, by text message and in person at various locations.
Representatives from Hitachi Consulting, Dallas Junior Forum, Splash Media, AutoNation, the Texas Legends and Delta Air Lines staffed the phone lines throughout the day.
In addition to donations from viewers, local businesses and organizations contributed to the fundraiser. They included Jersey Mike’s, AutoNation, Hitachi Consulting, Tom Thumb, the Brookhaven Men’s Tennis Association, Delta Air Lines, ZTE USA and the Texas Rangers.
