WSCV Miami, Telemundo 51, went on the air in 1985, and recently celebrated this milestone with a telethon for Liga Contra el Cancer that raised $4.1 million.
It’s the 17th time the station has held a telethon for Liga Contra el Cancer and the total raised has grown to more $60 million.
Liga Contra el Cancer provides all types of medical screenings and treatments, totally free of charge to cancer patients in South Florida who lack the funds or the insurance for these critical live saving services.
“As we move into our 31st year,” says Jorge Carballo, WSCV’s president, “we remain committed to our audience as providers of journalistic excellence in our newscasts, as a preferred provider of entertainment and as a major supporter of efforts on behalf of our community.”
