When a premiere American sporting event takes place in your market, and your station is carrying the action, that’s an opportunity.
The U.S. Open golf championship is being played this weekend near the Tacoma market, and Fox is broadcasting the tournament.
It’s been 115 years since America’s premiere golf event has been played in the Pacific Northwest.
And Tribune’s Fox affiliate KCPQ Seattle-Tacoma is poised to take full advantage of Fox’s exclusive television coverage.
KCPQ’s coverage began on Sunday with Inside the Ropes, a hole-by-hole preview of Cambers Bay, host of this year’s U.S. Open.
Tuesday night, KCPQ will air Countdown to the Championship, a look at the personal stories of the local golfers playing in the Open.
And KCPQ will provide in-depth analysis following each day’s action starting on Thursday with a half-hour special, Championship Wrap.
Here’s a feature about a local favorite who’s playing in the Open, Ryan Moore.
