WCVB Boston is launching a 13-week campaign to expose the opioid epidemic in Massachusetts and be a resource for information about the crisis.
An opioid is any chemical such as morphine that resembles opiates in its pharmacological effects. In 2014, as many as 1,000 people in Massachusetts died from opioid use.
Yesterday, the Hearst-owned ABC affiliate launched the campaign with a day-long focus on opioid addiction, 5 On: Opioid Crisis.
