One of the keynote presentations at this past June’s PromaxBDA Station Summit was Marketing to the Home Team: Local TV Viewers Speak Out from Magid’s Jim Thomas and Dick Haynes. Thomas is VP of marketing, and Haynes is SVP of research.
At some point during the summit, Thomas and Nik Thompson, a Magid marketing consultant, pulled me aside to ask me some marketing questions on camera. It was a run-and-gun shoot right in the hallway.
At the time, I didn’t really ask too many questions about it, but now I realize that my interview is part of a series of videos, How We Market, that Magid is sharing on its website under the title, MagidMarketingWorks.
I kind of stumbled across this after seeing a notice about it on one of Promax’s Daily Brief.
It’s an interesting idea. Magid gives select local TV marketing managers a series of questions and asks them to videotape their answers.
Thomas says the idea is to give local TV marketers more voice, and to develop content beyond what Magid presented at the PromaxBDA Station Summit.

By the way, one of the videos features Sarah Bono, KMIZ promotions manager. KMIZ is the ABC affiliate in Columbia, Mo. I interviewed Bono at the 2014 Station Summit about her attending the conference for the first time.
