The right music, whether it’s a cut from a production library or a custom tune, is an essential element to almost any TV commercial or news promo.
Sometimes, the music is the basis for the creative and the video is there to support it.
Warner/Chappell Production Music collaborated with CBS O&O KTVT Dallas to create the music for a weather promo called, Listen to Larry. It’s been nominated for a PromaxBDA Local Award in the Use of Original Music category.
“I’m thrilled that this collaboration with KTVT-TV is nominated for a Promax Local Award,” said Randy Wachtler, Warner/Chappell Production Music’s president, “and proud to have been a part of a successful and popular campaign!”
KTVT’s creative services director, David Hershey, said Listen to Larry, a promo touting KTVT’s chief meteorologist Larry Mowry, was inspired by a spot done by WCBS New York for its chief meteorologist.
“I thought the country feeling would resonate well with our viewers,” said Hershey, “because they live in the greatest state in the country, Texas.”
“KTVT wanted something powerful, something to get their message across about their award-winning weather forecast,” said Mark Agent, Warner/Chappell Production Music’s licensing director.
“The Texas style of music really helped us bring out the pride that the viewers have in their state.”
The PromaxBDA Local Awards celebrate and honor the best in local media, marketing and design, driving excellence, creativity and innovation from the local market.
The awards will be announced at the PromaxBDA Station Summit held in Las Vegas in June.
