I worked alongside KIVI news anchors Don Nelson and Michelle Edmonds a few years ago at the Boise ABC affiliate owned by Scripps and thought I knew them well.
Both are solid news journalists, leaders in the newsroom, popular with the staff, do anything you wanted them to do kind of folks. Good people, as they say.
Nelson has been with KIVI for 23 years, while Edmonds has been there 12 years.
So it came as a shock when I saw some promos on Facebook that revealed they had shortcomings in other areas.

But, as the promo points out, fear not, because when it comes to delivering the news on KIVI, both are the best in the business.
Eric Holbrook, KIVI’s creative services director, says the humorous campaign has been well received by the station’s Facebook followers.
The campaign is airing only on the station’s Facebook page, according to Holbrook, to try to reach a younger audience. Holbrook says the campaign will include spots for the station’s sports and weather talent in the weeks to come.
I’m just glad I couldn’t make it when Nelson invited me to come over for a barbecue.
