WGN Morning News from 6 in the morning until 9 was the top-rated choice for Chicago viewers during February among adults 25-54 for the sixth year in a row.
And for the first time, the show was No. 1 in household ratings from 5 to 10 a.m., according to the independent station owned by Tribune.
WGN ran this Facebook-only spot throughout the month of February targeting viewers who live within 50 miles of the city.
“Our ‘REAL’ campaign was designed for out of home in February and we executed it via billboards, print, radio and social media,” said Tom Vodick, WGN’s creative director.
“Our objective was to expand our promotional reach while focusing on the one theme that has resonated the most in the Chicago market regarding our morning team — they’re REAL people. And we were pleased to report at the end of February, we were No. 1 in household ratings from 5 to 10 a.m. for the first time ever.”
And viewers seemed to be taken with the promotion and the show.
