WDJT, Weigel Broadcasting’s CBS affiliate in Milwaukee, is helping area families in need with its sixth annual, all-day food drive called Thanksgiving Drive Thru Food Drive.
This year marks the station’s sixth annual holiday food drive, which benefits Hunger Task Force.
Last year, Milwaukeeans donated more than 131,000 pounds of food to feed children, families and seniors.
This year, Milwaukeeans can drive-through the parking lot at Miller Park, home of the Milwaukee Brewers, all day today to drop off a food donation. Brewers Community Foundation is a partner with WDJT in the Thanksgiving Drive Thru Food Drive.
WDJT will broadcast live from the food drive throughout the day.
“The generosity of the CBS 58 viewers toward the Drive Thru Food Drive has been nothing short of amazing. It is a great way to give thanks and to give back to the community,” said Mark Strachota, WDJT’s general manager.
“We focus on health, education, recreation and basic needs. These efforts are critically important and helpful to many,” said Cecelia Gore, Brewers Community Foundation executive director.
“We’re excited to continue this generous tradition with our friends at CBS 58 and the Brewers Community Foundation, and appreciate them for spending the day before Thanksgiving fighting local hunger,” said Sherrie Tussler, Hunger Task Force’s executive director.
