It’s a Philly thing, totally Philly.
That’s the message in one of ABC O&O WPVI’s promos for its coverage of The 6abc Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade, now in its 98th year.
This promo has lots of that Philly attitude — got a problem with that?
This isn’t the first time WPVI has appealed to Philly viewers who like attitude.
Here’s another WPVI promo featured in a column from a couple years ago about news promos with attitude.
Now back to the 6abc Dunkin Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The fun kicks off Thanksgiving Day at 8:30 a.m. with a half-hour preview show followed by three hours of parade action.
“The 6abc Dunkin Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade is 98 years old this year and is the longest running Thanksgiving Day Parade in America,” said Bernie Prazenica, WPVI’s general manager. “This is Philadelphia’s parade and we all take great pride in continuing the tradition.”
The 6abc Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade is known for having “something for everyone” — featuring 17 marching bands from across nation, 18 balloons, 17 floats, 29 performances, as well as fan favorites from music, stage and screen.
The 210-minute broadcast will be shown in nine markets across the country: WATM (ABC),Johnstown-Altoona, Pa.; WBOC (Fox), Salisbury, Md.; WJET (ABC), Erie, Pa.; WJLA (ABC),Washington; WSWB (CW), Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; WTVD (ABC), Raleigh/Durham, N.C.; WWHO (CW), Columbus, Ohio; and WZVN (ABC), Fort Myers, Fla.
And for those who may not respond well to promos with attitude, WPVI has more traditional spots.
