WVUE, Raycom’s Fox affiliate in New Orleans, earned two national journalism awards from The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ).
The SPJ’s national Sigma Delta Chi Awards, founded in 1932, recognize the best in professional journalism.
The WVUE’s Investigative Team, led by Lee Zurik, won the award for Investigative Reporting with the State of Unrest series.

WVUE’s partnership with NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune and Clear Health Costs was honored with the award for Public Service in Television Journalism for the Cracking the Code series.

“We are truly humbled by the national recognition our commitment to in-depth journalism continues to receive,” said Mikel Schaefer, WVUE’s news director.
“We’re proud to have some of the best journalists in the country working on our team,” said Tim Ingram, WVUE’s general manager.
“They’re doing what they do best — looking out for our viewers.”
The two wins for the WVUE’s Investigative Team come on the heels of winning an IRE Certificate, a National Headliner Award, and several Associated Press Awards for Investigative journalism, as well as a nomination for the prestigious Peabody Award, one of only two local stations in the country to earn a nomination.
