WPTV in West Palm Beach teamed up with schools, local businesses and civic and charitable organizations to help fight hunger. “While unfortunately hunger can’t be resolved with one campaign alone, we at WPTV are grateful to our community for stepping up and helping those suffering in our community,” said GM Lloyd Bucher.
WPTV’s 34th annual Bill Brooks’ Food for Families Food Drive final tabulation came in and the total reached about 100 tons of food.
WPTV is the Scripps NBC affiliate in West Palm Beach, Fla.

The six-week-long event included four all-day drives and multiple collections sites throughout The Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast. All food collected was distributed to families in need in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties.
In addition to on-air promos and newscast mentions, WPTV created multiple social posts to increase engagement and awareness. The goal was to spread the donation message as widely as possible.
“Thanks go out to our employees, our viewers and our business and community partners for their caring and kindness during the holiday season,” said Lloyd Bucher, WPTV’s general manager.
