Several local TV affiliates in Philadelphia are making sure that Eagles fans are getting as much double coverage of the game as they can handle. Special programming before and after the game, and live reports from New Orleans are just some of the coverage fans can enjoy.
The Philadelphia Eagles are playing the New Orleans Saints in the Big Easy in this Sunday’s NFL division playoff game at the Superdome.
Kickoff is at 4 o’clock and the game will be carried on Fox.
But several local TV affiliates in Philadelphia are making sure that ‘Philly, Philly’ fans are getting as much double coverage of the game as they can handle.
That the Eagles are even in the playoffs seemed unlikely just a few weeks ago. And it took a blocked field goal against the Chicago Bears that double doinked off the goal post to get the Eagles into the next round against the Saints.
With a dramatic win like that, do you think Eagles’ fans would be satisfied with just watching the game itself? No way.
WTXF, Fox’s Philly O&O, is carrying the game in Philadelphia, and has special reports airing from New Orleans. Chris O’Connell, WTXF reporter, is reporting live from NOLA for all station newscasts.
On Sunday morning starting at 10, WTXF is airing a 90-minute special edition of its Eagles pregame show, Game Day Live, from Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Also on Sunday at 2, WTXF will be reporting live for a special edition of Good Day Philadelphia, titled, Good Day: Game Day.

WCAU, NBC’s Philly O&O, is also planning some special programming for Eagles’ fans. Saturday night starting at 8, it will air a live half-hour special, Eagles Road to Victory followed by Inside the Eagles at 8:30.
Game day on Sunday, WCAU starts its pre-game coverge with Eagles Game Plan at 1, followed by a live Eagles Gameday Kickoff at 1:30.
At 2, the station airs a special live two-hour WCAU news special, NBC10 News Special: Defend the Ring.
And after the late news, fans can watch Eagles Gameday Final at 11:35.
In addition to its on-air coverage, the WCAU Road to Victory bus will be all over the city for Eagles fans to sign for giveaways.
WPVI, the ABC O&O, got its Eagles coverage off first from New Orleans with this story on Wednesday night from reporter Christie Ileto.
In addition to Ileto, the station is sending Ducis Rodgers, the station’s sports director and anchor, and Jamie Apody, sports reporter, down to New Orleans.
