This spot isn’t really about snow at all. I like this spot because it didn’t resort to scary news footage of snow. Instead, its simple studio production using fake snow and happy meteorologists dovetailed with its message.
Fort Wayne, Ind., is not exactly the place you think of when it comes snow. It gets only about 30 inches a year.
Nothing to sneeze at mind you, but it ain’t Rochester which gets about 100 inches per year.
But this spot from WPTA, Quincy’s ABC affiliate in Fort Wayne, isn’t really about snow at all.
It welcomes the idea of snow. Bring it on, it taunts. It’s more about the fact that WPTA has four meteorologists, and when you have four meteorologists, snow isn’t really that intimidating.
I like this spot because it didn’t resort to scary news footage of snow. Instead, its simple studio production using fake snow and happy meteorologists dovetailed with its message.
I do have to nitpick one line of copy in the promo: We’re ready with more local meteorologists.
It’s ambiguous. If WPTA has more meteorologists on staff than any other TV station in town, that’s a reason to watch for weather coverage.
