Thanks to KVLY and KXJB, Gray’s NBC and CBS affiliates in Fargo, N.D., Make-A-Wish of North Dakota has more than 500,000 airline miles to help make sick kids’ wishes come true. “It’s an honor to partner with Make-A-Wish and our community. We are grateful for generosity throughout North Dakota,” said Wendy Bernier, the stations’ creative services director.
The Make-A-Wish vision is to grant the wish of every child diagnosed with a critical illness. In the United States, on average, a wish is granted every 34 minutes. Seventy-five percent of Make-A-Wish wishes involve travel, and the whole immediate family goes along on the trip.
So there is a need of donated airline miles to defray the cost.

The 2nd Annual Wishes in Flight Miles Drive to benefit Make-A-Wish of North Dakota was a huge success.
The campaign’s overall goal this year is to reach 1 million donated airline miles, and the one day on-air push put them over half way there with 530,249 miles.
The station began promoting the one-day Miles Drive two weeks prior, reminding viewers to save their miles and save the date.
On Thursday, February 28th from sign-on until midnight promotion ran on all the networks operated by the Gray Television owned stations, reminding viewers that today is the day to donate.
Throughout the day live shots were done updating the viewers as to the number of miles collected and stories aired about local Wish Kids telling of their great adventures.
The phone number and request for donations hit every platform throughout the day, including the weather app, news app, website, Facebook, and on-air.
When the Wish Kids, and their families, tell of their adventures it becomes a very emotional moment for everyone on staff.
It’s an honor to partner with Make-A-Wish and our community. We are grateful for generosity throughout North Dakota.
