WAVY and WVBT, Nexstar’s NBC and Fox affiliate respectively in Portsmouth, Virginia, are launching their 10 On Your Side Operation School Supplies initiative tomorrow.
The mission, nearly three-decades old, launches in local stores and businesses and runs through Friday, August 23.
Viewers can watch the 10 On Your Side Operation School Supplies drop-off reports on The Hampton Roads Show every Friday at 11 a.m. in August and also on WAVY’s noon and 4 o’clock newscasts. The reports will showcase how the campaign is helping children, parents and teachers in 12 school districts in the viewing area. Last year, more than 80,000 items made their way to 12 school districts across the area.
“The support this program offers our children and our teachers is priceless,” said Carol Ward, WAVY’s general manager.
“It doesn’t matter how much you donate; every item is appreciated and goes straight to classrooms for the greater good of our Hampton Roads community.”
