KABC’s studios are located in Glendale, about equidistant from downtown Los Angeles to the south, Burbank to the north and Pasadena to the east. According to the blog, Living in Downtown Glendale, when it comes to all of the regions in the San Fernando Valley, Glendale is considered one of the most livable, a fact that draws potential residents near and far. Glendale gets high marks on factors like the amenities, low crime rate, plentiful housing options, and great weather. It beats out much of the rest of California, and even the U.S. with its total livability score. Part of the reason is that Glendale is just the right size—large, without feeling overwhelming.
One thing that sticks out is the proximity to nature. The Verdugo and San Gabriel mountains are just a hop, skip, and a jump away, making it easy to plan a quick hike or retreat, almost on a moment’s notice. The city also borders Griffith Park, famed for its zoo and other fun attractions. You could take some time out to head up to the Griffith Observatory, or catch a live show at the historic Greek Theatre. If you pulled someone in the know aside and asked them to explain Glendale to you, in a nutshell, there’s a good chance that they’ll tell you the city just feels “real.” From the family-friendly attractions to the late night bars and everything in between, the city exudes authenticity.

Laredo is about 150 miles west of the Corpus Christi and the Gulf of Mexico, and about the same distance south of San Antonio. It sits far enough west of the Gulf Coastal Plain to be in a zone of dry, rolling hills and plains, supporting scrub vegetation, small cacti, and oak trees. The climate is semiarid. Summers are hot with most days over 90 degrees, but with humidity lower than areas on the Gulf Coast. Winters are mild and dry with many days in the 70s and 80s; evening lows dip below freezing occasionally.
Laredo is a rapidly growing city. As of 2000, it was the second fastest growing city in America behind Las Vegas. Living in Laredo offers residents a suburban feel and most residents own their homes. In Laredo there are a lot of parks. The public schools in Laredo are above average. For doing outdoorsy stuff like camping, swimming, mountain biking, hiking, and generally roughing it, you’re going to want to hit Lake Casa Blanca International State Park, where the 1,656-acre lake is known for being the state’s best bass fishing spot.
The Spanish-colonial city center has been reinvigorated following a commercial boom, and there are some minor league sports teams and events of cultural interest.
There’s no state income tax in Texas, and in Laredo, the median home price is about $120,000 and average rent a month is about $800.

Living in the Tampa Bay area is like being on vacation all year. Located north of the bay, Tampa has a hip social scene and a thriving Hispanic community, and is notable for Ybor City, once known as “the Cigar Capital of the World.” On the opposite side of the bay, the beaches of St. Petersburg offer water sports and activities like parasailing and dolphin-watching cruises, while the city itself has become a major arts destination, home of the renowned Salvador Dali Museum.
Water Street Tampa is one of the largest redevelopment projects that Tampa has seen in recent history, and it’s helping transform the city into a vibrant, diverse and attractive option for young people looking for a new place to call home. The $3 billion multi-use development project spans more than 54 acres along the city’s downtown waterfront and connects to downtown. It includes two luxury hotels, office towers and apartment buildings that feature amenities like rooftop gardens and fitness centers.
