I grew up in the Philadelphia area so I can speak volumes about why you should live here.
Philadelphia is two hours from New York, Baltimore, the Chesapeake Bay, and Washington.
It’s two hours to the shore, what we call the beaches in Jersey. You’re two hours to fishing, skiing, and hiking in the Pocono Mountains.
There are cheesesteak and hoagies shops on nearly every corner. It’s a cottage industry around here. And of course, there’s WaWa, ask a local about that.
Colleges? Please. Penn, Drexel, Temple, St. Joe’s, Villanova, they’re everywhere.
Sports team? The Eagles, the Phillies, the 76ers, the Flyers and the Union.
Restaurants abound in the city and in the suburbs.
History? If you have to ask, maybe this isn’t for you.
Art, theater, music and culture? Let me put it this way, you don’t have enough time to sample it all.
Outdoor? Parks, trails, woodlands, lakes, rivers — whether you’re in the city proper or in the suburbs, you can take your pick.
Look, you’ll be working at the NBC O&O, once you get here, you’ll never want to live anywhere else. Got questions about living here? Call me. I know what I’m talking about.

KABC is located in Glendale, about 10 miles east of Beverly Hills and 10 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. When it comes to all of the regions in the San Fernando Valley, Glendale is considered one of the most livable, a fact that draws potential residents near and far. Glendale gets high marks on factors like the amenities, low crime rate, plentiful housing options, and great weather.
The city also borders Griffith Park, famed for its zoo and other fun attractions. You could take some time out to head up to the Griffith Observatory, or catch a live show at the historic Greek Theatre. If you pulled someone in the know aside and asked them to explain Glendale to you, in a nutshell, there’s a good chance that they’ll tell you the city just feels “real.” From the family-friendly attractions to the late night bars and everything in between, the city exudes authenticity.
You might get the impression that Glendale gets overlooked in discussions about sunny southern California. True, it might not be the largest or most populous city, coming in at just over 200,000 residents. What the area lacks in numbers, however, it makes up in unfiltered, inimitable charm.
