“We’ve gotten great feedback from our viewers who have grown up watching this iconic local station and have enjoyed revisiting these fond memories from over the years,” said Katie Warthan, WTTV Indianapolis’ promotions manager.
This 70th anniversary promo caught my eye one day while I was scrolling though LinkedIn. So I contacted the poster, Katie Warthan, the promotions manager for WTTV, Nexstar’s CBS affiliate in Indianapolis, to ask about it.
I liked the design and execution. The movement from left to right along a time line is classy. The look is clean, and with the various TV monitors in the front and different size clips coming and going in the background, it captures the history of the station’s years of programming.
I’ve said this before, but it’s perfectly natural and right to celebrate a TV station’s legacy in the market. Owners may come and go. Affiliations, sometimes even call letters, may change. But the viewers who’ve lived in the area remember the shows, the events and certainly the news personalities who they’ve watched and welcomed into their homes throughout the years.
Here’s what Warthan had to say about the promo and the station’s 70th anniversary.
“WTTV Channel 4 has been the longest running television station in Central Indiana. We wanted to highlight the 70th anniversary on Nov. 11 by taking our viewers through a time capsule of this legendary station.
“Our senior promotions producer, Drew Varvel, spent hours pulling memorable clips from shows and sporting events throughout the last seven decades and then our graphics artist, Adam Roth, laid them on a timeline with television sets and logos from each decade.
“We’ve gotten great feedback from our viewers who have grown up watching this iconic local station and have enjoyed revisiting these fond memories from over the years.”
