WAPT, Hearst’s ABC affiliate in Jackson, Miss. (DMA 95), is expanding its 10 p.m. newscast to an hour with a focus on the spread of COVID-19 in Central Mississippi.
The change currently extends through the week of March 16 through March 22 and may be extended as events warrant.
The expanded newscasts will include updates from state officials, the Mississippi Department of Health, city government, school officials and other information crucial to Jackson viewers during the Coronavirus pandemic.
In addition to the extended newscasts, ABC will also adjust its programming schedule. Beginning Tuesday, March 17, Nightline will now follow 16 WAPT News at 10, with Jimmy Kimmel Live airing immediately after. This change is currently scheduled through Friday, March 20.

WTTG/WDCA, Fox TV, Washington DC, is seeking a seasoned news producer. The news producer is responsible for daily production of newscast (compile and write stories, log video, wire copy) within specific time constraints to meet news deadlines. Level of performance requires a superior command of grammar and broadcast news-writing style. Must be familiar with and able to log and edit video for inclusion on scripts.
