Sinclair Broadcast Group stations across the country have joined with the Salvation Army to raise money and supplies for those who have been financially affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Many Americans don’t have the financial means to support their families right now.
Sinclair Cares: Your Neighbor Needs You, kicked off on Tuesday, March 31, encouraging viewers to help support fellow Americans impacted by the global pandemic.
The campaign raised more than $100,000 on the first day and to date, the amount is approaching $350,000.
All Sinclair-owned outlets are engaging in on-air, digital and social media efforts to support this effort, and the company will match donations up to $100,000.
Each Sinclair outlet will work with its local Salvation Army field office to identify community members who have been drastically impacted by COVID-19.
Viewers are encouraged to contact their local Salvation Army field offices to either put forth a neighbor in need, or to ask for personal assistance.
Help can come in the form of monetary donations or specific goods. All dollars raised stay in the local area, based on the donor’s zip code.
And it’s not just Sinclair’s TV stations that are involved, the company’s radio stations, regional sports channels and national properties are all part of the campaign.
