“KOAT’s Project CommUNITY Giving Tuesday made a huge difference for families in central New Mexico, with donations raising over $81,000 in total,” said Rodney Prunty, United Way of Central New Mexico’s president.
KOAT, Hearst’s ABC affiliate in Albuquerque, N.M. (DMA 46), partnered with United Way of Central New Mexico and raised more than $81,000 during Project CommUNITY Giving Tuesday held April 20 to help feed families during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown.
KOAT Action 7 News featured live cut-ins throughout the day to make viewers aware of the fundraiser. KOAT’s Project CommUNITY will continue to host Giving Tuesdays during the crisis, supporting different community organizations each week that are working to keep our community safe and healthy.
“KOAT’s Project CommUNITY Giving Tuesday made a huge difference for families in central New Mexico, with donations raising over $81,000 in total,” said Rodney Prunty, United Way of Central New Mexico’s president.
“Because of their partnership and the focus on our Feeding Families Fund, donors were able to participate in our effort to provide local nonprofit agencies with the funds to purchase meals from local restaurants for families in their care. It was an extraordinary response that means more meals will get to the families who need them and our local restaurants will be supported.”

“We are extremely thankful to our generous viewers who responded to our Project CommUNITY Giving Tuesday,” said Lori Waldon, KOAT’s general manager.
“Their donations will help many New Mexico families as well as our local restaurants who need our support during this pandemic. We were also pleased to partner with the United Way. They do great work in our community.”
