KCRA and WYFF, Hearst’s NBC affiliates in Sacramento, Calif. (DMA 20), ornia and Greenville, S.C. (DMA 38), held telethons this week in their respective markets to benefit local food banks.

KCRA and Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS) raised $763,377 in less than 24 hours via Project Community: Food For Our Families, the equivalent of more than 3.8 million meals for area communities.
“Since COVID-19, we’ve more than doubled our output,” said says Blake Young, SFBFS’s president.
“This partnership to raise this money with KCRA has been a blessing and we’re incredibly grateful to them. They understand our mission and deeply care about our community and we couldn’t thank them more.”

In Greenville, WYFF and Harvest Hope Food Bank raised $185,000 during the Project CommUNITY Day 4 Giving virtual telethon, enough to provide more than 920,000 meals to families in need across the area.
“These more than 920,000 meals raised for families in the Upstate are a true reflection of how strong communities are when we all unite together,” said Wendy Broderick, Harvest Hope CEO.
