The Care Package Challenge raised $106,776 — enough to provide 9,707 care packages to feed people throughout Northern Indiana.
From April 13 to 30, WNDU invited viewers to join Kroger and donate to the Care Package Challenge. For just $11, donors could fund a care package to provide desperately needed food.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has affected a broad population,” said Marijo Martinec, Food Bank of Northern Indiana’s CEO.
“During the months of March and April, nearly 7,000 new individuals visited this pantry for the first time. We are humbled by the generosity of this community to take the WNDU Care Package Challenge and the commitment of Kroger and WNDU-TV to help feed the hungry during this time of tremendous need. We are forever grateful.”
“Helping our community is in our DNA,” said John O’Brien, WNDU’s general manager. “We are blessed to serve Michiana, and we know people will answer the call when they see their neighbors in need. We will get through this, and we’ll do it by working together.”
