Five days. Five cities. One mission. To help feed hungry families in eastern North Carolina.

WCTI, Sinclair’s ABC affiliate in New Bern, N.C. (DMA 100), partnered with Food Lion Feeds to take the Feeding ENC Food Drive on the road.

Held over the week of Aug. 10 at five Food Lion collection sites in Jacksonville, Morehead City, Greenville, Kinston, and New Bern, the public was invited to donate food products and funds to support local families, children, seniors and veterans experiencing food insecurity.

Donors, sponsors and Food Lion customers contributed food and funds that provided 158,946 meals for households in eastern North Carolina struggling to put food on their tables.

Allison Aldridge

“The hard work and planning paid off and we are thankful to be a part of such an excellent community initiative,” said Allison Aldridge, WCTI’s general manager.

“Thank you also to all of our viewers for their donations and our main sponsor Food Lion Feeds for their support.”

Jaime McCutcheon

“Especially during these trying times, this generosity will help make sure that thousands of families have enough to eat,” Jaime McCutcheon, WCTI news director.

George Young

“Requests for food assistance have increased by 38% since the COVID-19 pandemic,” said George Young, eastern regional director for the Food Bank.

“We are very grateful to NewsChannel 12 viewers for responding to the call for additional support during these trying times.”
