Chicago sits on the shores of Lake Michigan, and according to U.S. News & World Report, your experience living in Chicago will depend on your ZIP code. From Uptown to Hyde Park, East Garfield to the Loop, each of the metro area’s 77 official community areas brings its own unique personality. The summer’s festivals, fireworks and beach afternoons shift to ice skating, zoo lights and holiday cheer in the winter months — with a diverse mix of a warming spring and a colorful fall in between.
Chicago has more than its fair share of pro sports, like the Cubs, the Bulls, the White Sox, the Bears, and the Black Hawks, all vying for cheers and allegiance. Chicago’s historic architecture is on display 24/7, and there’s never a bad time to order a deep-dish pizza.
Speaking of food, Chicago has a little bit of everything. The restaurant scene includes famous hot dog joints like The Wieners Circle and well-known steakhouses, such as Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse. Chicago has all the offerings you’d expect from a major city: world-class museums, vibrant shopping districts and ample nightlife venues, just to name a few.
