General Manager, Creative Services Director And Maintenance Tech Openings

New jobs posted to TVNewsCheck’s Media Job Center include openings for a general manager, a creative services director and a maintenance technician for Nexstar, Hearst and Allen Media stations.

by Paul Greeley January 11, 2021 12:08 EST

Mission Broadcasting’s WPIX, the CW affiliate in New York, is seeking an experienced and dynamic vice president-general manager to oversee its operational agreement with Nexstar Inc.

In this role, the VP-GM will have full oversight over Nexstar’s operations at WPIX, s well as the station’s digital, mobile and social media assets. Nexstar provides operational support under the terms of a local programming and marketing agreement.

Proven skills and demonstrable experience in leading broadcast operational teams with sales-driven organizations, developing locally originated content, and a commitment to community service are fundamental requirements of this position. Click here for more specifics and how to apply.

New York is America’s largest metro area, home to nearly 21 million people speaking more than 200 languages. It’s a place written about in songs, it has served as the backdrop for countless movies and it’s inspired people worldwide with its grandiosity. Brimming with some of the nation’s tallest buildings and historic landmarks, New York City is never short on spectacle.

The metro area is a place of opportunity, which is why — despite the crowds and costs — people keep coming. Some of the world’s best theaters, restaurants, museums, parks and cultural activities can be found here. New York City’s communities are as diverse as its people, from Greenwich Village in downtown to Harlem in uptown.

Beyond Manhattan, the city comprises four additional boroughs: Queens, which has a long history of fabulous immigrant food; Brooklyn and its thriving literary and arts scene; the Bronx and its abundant green space and wildlife; and Staten Island with its lovely coastline.

KCCI, the Hearst-owned CBS affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa (DMA 68) has an opening for a full-time maintenance technician. The person in this role maintains the station’s equipment and systems from acquisition to distribution. This position provides technical and IT support for all station efforts.

Applicants should have two-plus years of experience working as a maintenance technician at a commercial television station with extensive experience in maintaining and troubleshooting a wide variety of broadcast equipment or two-plus years of experience in a related military occupation specialty. Click here for more specifics and how to apply.

Des Moines is listed as the ninth best place to live according to U.S. News and World Report, which listed Des Moines as one of the top five most affordable and best cities to live in and Livability.com calls Des Moines a millennial hotspot. Elegant Colonial and Tudor-style homes built in the early 1900s hide in quiet neighborhoods minutes from buzzy downtown, where lofts and condos draw the millennial crowd.

Many families with kids flock to the suburbs where new housing developments continually pop up. And there’s plenty to do and see in Des Moines. Cultural events and festivals draw all ages to the downtown area. One-of-a-kind shops, locally owned restaurants and hip bars enliven entertainment districts.

And plenty of bike trails and parks (and even a few lakes) provide opportunities for outdoor recreation. The median price for a house in Des Moines is about $170,000 and average rent is about $800 a month.

KDRV, Allen Media’s ABC affiliate in Medford, Ore. (DMA 134), is seeking a hands-on creative services director to join its team. The right candidate can make a day one impact developing and guiding advertising and promotional campaigns for all of its content platforms — on-air, online and mobile.

Responsibilities include producing eye-catching, brand-focused news promos (image, topical, POP, special report & series) that will drive ratings growth. Click here for more specifics and how to apply.

Medford is about 150 miles from the Pacific Ocean by car, mostly because you have to drive around the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, one of many national forests and parks surrounding Medford. Others include the Umpqua National Forest, Fremont-Winema National Forest, Crater Lake National Park and Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. Medford is located in the heart of Rogue Valley where the climate resembles the desired Mediterranean climate.

The town is southern Oregon’s largest and most diverse city, brimming with historical and cultural attractions while offering regional tax-free shopping. The entire downtown is on the historic registry. Take a historic trolley ride through town and then meander through boutiques, a variety of exceptional restaurants, wine bars, antique stores and art galleries.

Enjoy Medford’s “Downtown Dine Around” experience and select from a showcase of restaurants, including tapas, breweries, farm to table, or ethnic cuisine, all within steps of each other.

Medford is situated in the center of many exciting adventures and experiences, like white water rafting, wineries and hiking.
