General Manager, Promotion Manager And Sales Manager Openings

New jobs posted to TVNewsCheck’s Media Job Center include openings for a general manger, a promotion manager and local sales manager at Nexstar stations in California, Alabama and Indiana.

WHNT, Nexstar’s CBS affiliate in Huntsville, Ala. (DMA 79), needs a local sales manager. WHNT News 19 serves 11 counties. The local sales manager is responsible for the revenue goals of two stations — WHNT (CBS) and WHDF (CW) — across broadcast and digital platforms and will inherit an overachieving sales team. Working knowledge of Marketron, Matrix, Comscore and Wide Orbit is a plus. Click here for more specifics and how to apply.

U. S. News & World Report ranks Huntsville as the 11th best place to live in the country. Huntsville’s city center has undergone a renaissance in recent years. An outbreak of new construction downtown means more shopping, dining and apartment options are on the horizon.

Just west of downtown, a defunct cotton mill became a bustling arts center, and craft breweries and bars have sprung up in a renovated old middle school. Area restaurants offer everything from Vietnamese to German to Indian fare. More standard Southern fare, including barbecue joints and farm-to-table cafes, are also popular.

Because the climate is warm most of the year, outdoor concerts and events are plentiful. The downtown area hosts outdoor concerts, movies and food truck rallies almost every weekend (except in winter). Meanwhile, Monte Sano State Park is a favorite with hikers and mountain bikers. Boaters and water sports enthusiasts head to nearby Lake Guntersville and the Tennessee River.

WXIN-WTTV, Nexstar’s Fox and CBS affiliates serving Indianapolis (DMA 25) are looking for a promotion manager. This position will help drive the marketing of two powerful TV stations in the Indianapolis market. WXIN FOX59 and WTTV CBS4 broadcast 89 hours of local content every week.

The duopoly provides the promotion manager with the unique opportunity to help lead two different brands in both on-air and digital executions. The stations are huge players in the community, with multiple charitable efforts and partnerships every year, and WTTV is the official station of the Indianapolis Colts. Click here for more specifics and how to apply.

Indianapolis is about a couple hundred miles south of Chicago and about a hundred miles northeast of Cincinnati. Indianapolis is home to one of the world’s largest children’s museums, as well as professional and college sports teams and miles of recreational trails. Indianapolis’ lively downtown is easily walkable.

With so many things to do, Indianapolis allows its residents to experience big-city living without too much effort. The metro area includes an array of neighborhoods and suburbs, and many offer their own shopping and entertainment venues. Even so, suburbanites still venture downtown for its shops, theaters and restaurants.  A few miles northeast of downtown, Eagle Creek Park’s more than 3,900 acres of land and 1,400 acres of water host many community-based clubs for activities like sailing, rowing and shooting.

The median price for a home is $173,000 and rent averages about $860 a month.

WBTW, Nexstar’s CBS affiliate in Myrtle Beach, S.C. (DMA 99), seeks an experienced, driven broadcast professional to serve as vice president-general manager of its media properties. WBTW serves eight counties in northeastern South Carolina and two counties in North Carolina.

The successful candidate will have full oversight of CBS affiliate WBTW, along with MyNet, Ion, and Mystery TV subchannels, as well as all affiliated digital, mobile and social media assets associated with WBTW.com. Click here for more specifics and how to apply.

U.S. News & World Report ranks Myrtle Beach as the 26th best place to live, the 11th best place to retire and the best place to live in South Carolina. Although it’s better known to outsiders as a vacation hot spot for beachgoers and golfers, Myrtle Beach is also an attractive place to live for a number of reasons. Young professionals, growing families and empty nesters who are drawn to the area’s mild weather and beaches set down roots here and enjoy the area’s relatively low cost of living.

Those who live here have access to quality restaurants, a variety of leisure activities and a jam-packed events calendar. Residents can take advantage of the nearly 60 miles of shoreline that run along the Grand Strand, spending the warm days swimming, fishing, boating or sunbathing. In addition to its coveted coastline, the Myrtle Beach area is peppered with golf courses.
