U. S. News & World Report ranks Huntsville as the 11th best place to live in the country. Huntsville’s city center has undergone a renaissance in recent years. An outbreak of new construction downtown means more shopping, dining and apartment options are on the horizon.
Just west of downtown, a defunct cotton mill became a bustling arts center, and craft breweries and bars have sprung up in a renovated old middle school. Area restaurants offer everything from Vietnamese to German to Indian fare. More standard Southern fare, including barbecue joints and farm-to-table cafes, are also popular.
Because the climate is warm most of the year, outdoor concerts and events are plentiful. The downtown area hosts outdoor concerts, movies and food truck rallies almost every weekend (except in winter). Meanwhile, Monte Sano State Park is a favorite with hikers and mountain bikers. Boaters and water sports enthusiasts head to nearby Lake Guntersville and the Tennessee River.
WXIN-WTTV, Nexstar’s Fox and CBS affiliates serving Indianapolis (DMA 25) are looking for a promotion manager. This position will help drive the marketing of two powerful TV stations in the Indianapolis market. WXIN FOX59 and WTTV CBS4 broadcast 89 hours of local content every week.
The duopoly provides the promotion manager with the unique opportunity to help lead two different brands in both on-air and digital executions. The stations are huge players in the community, with multiple charitable efforts and partnerships every year, and WTTV is the official station of the Indianapolis Colts. Indianapolis is about a couple hundred miles south of Chicago and about a hundred miles northeast of Cincinnati. Indianapolis is home to one of the world’s largest children’s museums, as well as professional and college sports teams and miles of recreational trails. Indianapolis’ lively downtown is easily walkable.
With so many things to do, Indianapolis allows its residents to experience big-city living without too much effort. The metro area includes an array of neighborhoods and suburbs, and many offer their own shopping and entertainment venues. Even so, suburbanites still venture downtown for its shops, theaters and restaurants. A few miles northeast of downtown, Eagle Creek Park’s more than 3,900 acres of land and 1,400 acres of water host many community-based clubs for activities like sailing, rowing and shooting.
The median price for a home is $173,000 and rent averages about $860 a month.
