Weigel Broadcasting’s WMEU, The U, will broadcast the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Chicago/Midwest chapter’s Silver Circle Honors presentation that are given to recognize outstanding individuals who made significant contributions and have devoted 25 years or more to the local television and broadcast industries.
WMEU, Weigel Broadcasting’s independent station in Chicago, branded as The U, will broadcast the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Chicago/Midwest chapter’s Silver Circle Honors presentation that are given to recognize outstanding individuals who made significant contributions and have devoted 25 years or more to the local television and broadcast industries.
The virtual ceremony will air Sunday, Sept. 12, from 3 to 5 p.m. on WMEU. The event was previously scheduled to take place in 2020 but was postponed due to the pandemic.
The inductees of the 2020 class include 10 prominent Chicago broadcasters:
▪ Jackie Bange, Weekend News Anchor and Reporter at Nexstar Media WGN-Channel 9
▪ Rich Bernal, Former Staff Director at CBS-owned WBBM-Channel 2 and FOX-owned WFLD-Channel 32
▪ Mark Giangreco, Former Sports Anchor at ABC-owned WLS-Channel 7
▪ Alan Krashesky, Main News Anchor at ABC 7
▪ Marda LeBeau, Former Executive Producer of Specials and Investigations at CBS 2
▪ Jennifer Lyons, V.P./General Manager at WBBM-TV and Former News Director at WGN, CLTV and News Nation
▪ Marlin Perkins, Former Lincoln Park Zoo Director and host of the Peabody-Award-winning program Zoo Parade and legendary program Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom
▪ Lynn Hauldren (posthumously), Advertising Copywriter best known as The Empire Carpet Man
▪ Jack and Elaine Mulqueen (posthumously), Children’s Show Producers, best known as creator and star of the preteen dance show Kiddie A-Go-Go
