In the old promos, some of the people seen, on-air news talent or station employees, and of course, the people who created the promos, may not work at the station any more.
Rob Thomas, creative services director at WHNS, the Fox affiliate in Greenville, South Carolina, says over the years, crafting witty or sentimental holiday promos has not been his strength. This year, he tried to create something useful.
“So right after Thanksgiving we rolled out a Fox Carolina Weather App campaign that shows people what it will do for them with holiday travel,” Thomas says. “It’s a very simple spot but hopefully understandable in its simplicity. As it turns out, weather is indeed going to be an issue in this region surrounding the holidays. Extreme cold and snow will be factors.”
Even Santa can benefit from the Fox Carolina First Alert Weather App.
WFMY, the CBS affiliate in Greensboro, NC, asked its anchor team some questions about the holidays and their answers came out great, says Cami Anthony, WFMY’s marketing director.
