During November and December, WPTV, Scripps’ NBC affiliate in West Palm Beach, Fla., held its annual “Food for Families” food drive, sponsored two Delray Beach holiday events, the Heart Association’s Heart Walk and organized an inspiring holiday toy drive.

On Nov. 21, WPTV wrapped up its 38th annual “Bill Brooks’ Food for Families” food drive.

More than 121,600 pounds of food were collected. The goal is to help local families put food on their tables during the holiday season. 

On Nov. 12, WPTV took part in and promoted the American Heart Association’s walk in West Palm Beach. This event raises funds and awareness for the No. 1 killer of women in the U.S.

 WPTV also supported huge holiday events including a holiday tree lighting in Delray Beach, and the Delray Beach holiday parade.

On Dec. 14, WPTV’s Season of Hope Toy Drive collected 3,380 toys for South Florida children that will be distributed by the United Way of Palm Beach County to local children in need.

“We couldn’t be prouder of these seasonal initiatives as it helps unite the community and provides meals and joy to those most in need.  says Bill Siegel, WPTV’s GM. “Once again, our communities of the Palm Beaches and the Treasure Coast demonstrated their enormous generosity to help those in need.”
