WTIC, Tegna’s Fox61 in Hartford, Conn., ran a 30-second promo during halftime of this year’s Super Bowl announcing itself as Connecticut’s News Station.
The new branding promo touts Fox61 News as a trusted, balanced and “always on” source of news in Connecticut.
From the state’s only all local, all morning newscast to Connecticut’s most-watched primetime news, the station produces more local daily news than any other station in Connecticut, it says, and is available 24/7 on Fox61+.
“Our commitment to local news is our top priority every day,” says Humberto Hormaza, WTIC’s GM. “We have listened to our viewers, and they have made it clear to us they seek a consistent source of accurate, balanced, inclusive and trustworthy news for the stories that matter to them and their communities. We are thrilled to deliver this message during the Super Bowl, which is anticipated to be the single most-viewed television program in Connecticut this year.”
“Wherever you are in Connecticut, you will always be able to turn to Fox61, Connecticut’s News Station, to inform you and keep your family safe,” says Richard Washington III, WTIC’s news director. “We have built a solid team of journalists and meteorologists who know the people of Connecticut and understand their needs. Our new brand is aligned with our mission to be the trusted source for news in this market.”
