KSTU, Fox 13, the Scripps Fox affiliate in Salt Lake City, released a new promo during the Super Bowl that uses the lyrics of Utah’s official state song, Utah, We Love Thee.

“We started with an idea of a love letter to Utah,” says Darcy Stapleford, KSTU’s senior news promotion producer. “We wanted to truly express our appreciation for our state’s natural beauty and show our talent outside to match with a new initiative about community connection.”
Utah, We Love Thee was composed by Evan Stephens, an LDS Tabernacle Choir conductor, and was made the official state song in 1937.

Stapleford says the station hired a new voice-over talent that personified Utah.
“We wanted someone who sounded more like a real person, and less like a polished announcer voice,” Stapleford says.
“We kept picturing an older man, maybe a cowboy type, someone you could see wandering in the Utah wildness. We chose Drake Donovan for our voice talent.”
