WMTV, Gray’s NBC affiliate in Madison, Wis., held its third annual NBC15 Diaper Drive and surpassed its goal of raising one million diapers for The Village Diaper Bank.
The final total was 1,375,737 diapers raised. The campaign collected 266,373 diapers and raised $166,404.59 in cash donations. With the buying power of The Village Diaper Bank, $1 can buy $3 worth of diapers.
The NBC15 Diaper Drive benefits The Village Diaper Bank, which distributes more than 100,000 diapers per month to families in need in the southern Wisconsin counties of Dane, Green and Jefferson.
The 2023 drive was held Feb. 16-23. Those who donated diapers in-person could drop them off at 13 community drop sites. Two Men & a Truck then picked up those donations on the last day of the campaign and dropped them off at the Village Diaper Bank for volunteers to count and sort them.,
“This partnership is about so much more than diapers,” says Megan Sollenberger, The Village Diaper Bank’s founder. “It’s about helping children reach their developmental milestones, families making ends meet, and parents maintaining stable employment. Changing diapers can change lives and we’re so proud to be doing this work together.”
“Because of our viewers’ generous donations, and help from wonderful business partners, we made a huge difference for families in southern Wisconsin,” says Don Vesely, WMTV’s GM.
