WYFF, Hearst’s NBC affiliate in Greenville, S.C., is celebrating 70 years on the air in 2023 by giving back to the communities it has served over the years.
Throughout the year, WYFF will hold four “Year 4 Giving: Feed it Forward” campaigns. Each event will give viewers an opportunity to support local agencies working to feed families in their area.
Year 4 Giving: Feed it Forward kicked off on Wednesday, April 5, with a virtual telethon benefitting MANNA Food Bank in Asheville.
WYFF reported live from the food bank throughout the day to raise money for the organization that covers 16 counties in Western North Carolina, delivering an estimated 42,000 meals a day to local families.
Year 4 Giving: Feed it Forward will continue with events in Spartanburg, Anderson, and Greenville counties leading up to the station’s official 70th anniversary on Dec. 31.
“It may be our anniversary, but we want the communities who have supported us over the decades to receive the gifts,” says John Humphries, WYFF’s GM. “A large part of this station’s history has been centered around community service. We believe local broadcasters have a commitment to help our neighbors during times of need. This year, we will shine a light on the issue of food insecurity and are proud to partner with local agencies working to end hunger.”
