“WAAY had a busy day on Wednesday supporting Together for Alabama,” said Suzanne Sullivan, the Huntsville, Ala., station’s creative services director. “We did not raise funds for one particular organization, instead we gathered multiple ways to donate money, time, and supplies and put it all together in one place on our website. So many folks have been asking how they can help.”
WIAT, Birmingham,Ala.’s CBS affiliate, along with other Nexstar stations throughout Alabama, helped tornado recover. “On Wednesday, we asked viewers of our Nexstar stations to join us in supporting those who need our help,” said Jimmy Cromwell, WIAT’s general manager.
Yesterday, TV and radio stations across the state held a tornado relief telethon, Together for Alabama, that was coordinated by the Alabama Broadcasting Association. “Broadcasters are always there for the communities they serve and at times like these, we bring everyone together in a way like no other,” said Sharon M. Tinsley, Alabama Broadcasters Association’s president.
