So for the past 40 years, WDTN, Nexstar’s NBC, and WBDT, Dayton’s CW, have been collecting and distributing coats to less fortunate children and adults throughout the Miami Valley. Since the inception of the campaign, Coats for Kids has collected and distributed over 600,000 coats and winter accessories.
The one constant about local television is change. But for the past 37 years, the one constant that hasn’t changed at WDTN is a community campaign called Coats for Kids.
“No person should go a day without a coat to keep them warm for the cold winter ahead,” said Joe Abouzeid, WDTN’s general manager. And to that end, the station in Dayton begins its 35th year of collecting coats to distribute to those less fortunate.
