WESH and the American Red Cross of Central Florida are holding a disaster relief telethon today to raise funds to benefit all of those in the Florida panhandle impacted by Hurricane Michael. “We want to make sure the victims and families impacted by this disaster know they have the support of Central Florida in this time of healing and rebuilding,” said John R. Soapes, WESH’s general manager.
Iowa’s KCCI morning news and a special episode of their weekly public affairs show earned the station regional Emmy Awards. “We are proud and humbled to earn the trust of our viewers on these stories that continue to impact law enforcement and our culture,” said Brian Sather.

To celebrate the station’s 60th anniversary, WTAE chose to draw attention to Pittsburgh’s hungry with an all-day telethon to collect food for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. “In our minds the only way to truly honor our 60-year relationship with the Pittsburgh community was to give back,” said Charles W. Wolfertz, WTAE’s general manager.
Nashville Insider gets picked up by stations across the major station groups Sinclair, Scripps, Hearst, Raycom, CBS O&O’s, Graham Media, Nexstar, Tribune and others.
The NBC and MyNetworkTV affiliates in Sacramento joined the Red Cross in a day-long telethon.
“Our telethon provided an important way for our viewers to help in a direct and meaningful way,” said KCRA’s news director.
“When people call in and say that they wish they could give more, it really touches our hearts,” said a rep from the Red Cross.
