In past hurricanes, desperate people made last-ditch calls to get rescued. Among the many missing after Hurricane Michael, I wonder if anyone made any last-minute calls for help from Mexico Beach.
All day today, WBRC and the Birmingham Salvation Army will be answering phones to collect donations for Hurricane Michael relief efforts. “The region is special to so many of us and we view it as our mission to help those in need in any way we can,” said WBRC’s general manager.

WESH and the American Red Cross of Central Florida are holding a disaster relief telethon today to raise funds to benefit all of those in the Florida panhandle impacted by Hurricane Michael. “We want to make sure the victims and families impacted by this disaster know they have the support of Central Florida in this time of healing and rebuilding,” said John R. Soapes, WESH’s general manager.
