The May Heroes series will celebrate and spotlight people from different backgrounds across the Greater Houston area who are making a difference in the communities.
TV stations make meaningful contributions and connections in a variety of beneficial ways with their communities. Here’s a round-up of how some stations are helping and serving their communities.
In a gesture of community solidarity, television stations KPRC (ABC), KRIV (Fox), KHOU (CBS), and KIAH, (CW) have collaborated on a public service campaign aimed at delivering a positive note of encouragement to Houston viewers. In This Together, is a three-spot campaign featuring a who’s-who of familiar Houston news anchors from the Houston TV stations.
As part of its on-air and digital campaign, KPRC will spotlight some of Houston’s most prolific Hispanic artists and muralists. The campaign will also celebrate the diversity of its own KPRC family.
On Tuesday, KPRC hosted more than 264 staff, friends and fans in the upper deck of Minute Maid Park to execute two card flip stunts between the 3rd and 4th innings of the game to celebrate their 70th anniversary.
The celebration will highlight KPRC’s 70 years in Houston on-air as well as on all digital platforms, including a special 70th anniversary section on Click2Houston.com. “As Houston’s first television station, we are proud to take a moment to look back on the trails we’ve blazed, celebrate the people who got us here, and set our sights on the future” said Jerry Martin, KPRC’s general manager.
KPRC is celebrating diversity by featuring profiles of Hispanic citizens in Houston including some from the station. “What better time to celebrate not only the high profile, but the everyday citizens, neighbors and co-workers who inspire us?” said Jerry Martin, KPRC’s general manager
