A cutting-edge study, Video News Research Project, will test the use of new forms of animation, graphics, and data visualization in video storytelling. Year-long, paid fellowship positions will be created as part of the project, one position at each of these stations in Chicago and Boston.
WPTA, Quincy’s NBC affiliate in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, took home the top prize for Overall Excellence in the Lower Great Lakes Emmy Awards. “In doing so,” said Jonathan Shelley, WPTA’s news director, “a station that scarcely operated as a traditional Big Four affiliate just a few years ago took home the statuette over six other finalists – all from long-established broadcast operations in Indianapolis and Cleveland.”

On Saturday, June 28, 1969, members of the New York police department raided the Stonewall Inn, a known gay bar, touching off a series of spontaneous and violent demonstrations by the city’s gay community throughout the city. “The Stonewall riots were a turning point in our city’s history,” said Nicholas Veneziale, VP for New York Live, “leading to the growth of a worldwide pride movement which has inspired global change.”
