KCRA and WYFF, Hearst’s NBC affiliates in Sacramento, Calif., Greenville, S.C., held telethons this week in their respective markets to benefit local food banks.
Food4Frontline has delivered 3,000 meals and has confirmed the delivery of 10,000 more with local hospitals, service providers and food partners over the next couple weeks. Seems like a win-win.
“With so many people out of work, and kids not getting school meals, we recognized early on the need for food in our community was at an all-time high, we knew there was a way to help,” said, John R. Soapes, WESH’s general manager.
“KOAT’s Project CommUNITY Giving Tuesday made a huge difference for families in central New Mexico, with donations raising over $81,000 in total,” said Rodney Prunty, United Way of Central New Mexico’s president.

The donations included $100,000 from Sean Payton, the New Orleans Saints head coach. “During times like these, it is not only our duty but our privilege to join in and help our community,” said Joel Vilmenay, WDSU’s general manager.
