KCCI-TV’s third-annual Food Bank of Iowa Hunger Free Holidays telethon on November 29^th raised $436,832 to help Iowans facing food insecurity – enough for more than a million meals.

KCCI Des Moines, Iowa, harnessed the full complement of its market-leading broadcast and digital properties to raise awareness for Food Bank of Iowa’s Hunger Free Holidays month-long campaign.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, food insecurity has doubled in general and tripled for households with children in Iowa. “The generosity of our viewers demonstrates the power of local broadcasters to help meet the critical needs in their communities,” said Brian Sather, KCCI’s general manager.

“Having grown up in rural Iowa, I am familiar with the practice of one neighbor helping another so I am not surprised by the generosity of Iowans and their desire to help their neighbors in need,” said Michelle Book, Food Bank of Iowa’s president.
