Don Jorgensen, KELO’s 6 and 10 P.M. anchor in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, along with his wife, were in a serious motorcycle accident over Memorial Day weekend. Both spent five nights in the hospital where they both had surgeries. The station followed Jorgensen’s accident, recovery and return in a series of on-air news stories.
New jobs posted to TVNewsCheck’s Media Job Center include openings for a general manager at Nexstar’s two stations in South Dakota, and an account executive for Hearst’s station in Iowa.
Normally only turned on during the Christmas season, the lights will remain on 24 hours a day as a sign of hope for the community.
“The old studio was gutted from top to bottom so it’s all new and we love it,” said Jay Huizenga, KELO’s general manager.
KELO was given awards for excellence in community service, newscast, program special and producing.
